About the iGLF
The International Golf League Federation (iGLF) was formed in 2008 and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
The purpose of the iGLF is to "promote, facilitate, and grow the game of golf through services designed to encourage and enhance league play by providing league standards, membership services (including education, instruction, training, and skills development), league tournaments, and Internet services, and in general to promote a better understanding of and appreciation for league golf." In the short term, the organization will focus on four primary objectives; the provision of basic standards for golf league play, a forum for sharing league information, a user managed golf course database, and an Internet based public golfer score management system, which includes the iGLF Handicap System.
Currently, the iGLF is building the web-based applications necessary to meet its initial objectives. First release projections point to the 4th quarter of 2011.
iGLF Handicap System
The public has engaged the sport of golf for more than 100 years, yet there exists no standard handicapping system that can satisfy Leagues and League Golfers without the burden of excessive rules and regulations. Essentially, a league with golfers that wish to play and compete amongst themselves, counting league scores only, is on their own. The iGLF has developed a league handicapping system that is designed to satisfy all golfers at all levels, without limitation.
The iGLF Handicap System is a formula applied to a set of scores that produces a Base Handicap. The Base Handicap is portable and is translated to a Tee Handicap relative to course difficulty. Presently, the formula is proprietary and is not published. However, it is applied equally to all who use it. The iGLF Handicap System selects the best scores per the following chart:
| Number of 9-hole Scores |
Best Scores Used in Base Handicap Calculation |
| 1 or 2 |
1 |
| 3 or 4 |
2 |
| 5 |
3 |
| 6 or 7 |
4 |
| 8 or 9 |

| 10 |
6 |
| 11 or 12 |
7 |
| 13 or 14 |
8 |
| 15 |
9 |
| 16 or 17 |

| 18 or 19 |

| 20 |

The iGLF Handicap System is based on 9-hole scores. So, if your league uses the system for 18-hole play, all 18-hole scores are reduced to 9-hole scores, which are then applied to the chart. In effect, 9-hole Base Handicaps are computed from the best 12 of the last 20 9-hole scores, and 18-hole Base Handicaps are computed by multiplying the 9-hole Base Handicap by 2.
| The iGLF Handicap System formula is in its 6th year of testing and will be made available to the public in late 2011. Testing is being conducted in many leagues and league tournaments. |
